Q. What happens during a treatment?

A. Before your treatment we will complete a consultation. This will involve going through a thorough Health Questionnaire and an Informed Consent Form. You will get an opportunity to ask any questions or express any concerns before you sign the consent form. If you decide you do not want the treatment you are free to go. If you are happy to have the treatment you will be asked to put some protective eye wear on, and I will make you comfortable on the top of the range supportive chair as it tips back. I apply protective cream to your lips and then insert the cheek retractor. Your teeth are dried then the first layer of whitening gel is applied. The laser is then positioned and switched on. The laser cycle lasts for 20 minutes. At the end I will clean the gel off the teeth, then  apply a second layer and position the laser for the second cycle. This is then repeated a third time. At the end of the third cycle I will clean the gel off your teeth and invite you to sloosh your mouth thoroughly to get rid of any remaining gel - it's not dangerous, it just doesn't taste great. You will also be offered a glass of filtered water - you may be thirsty after having your mouth open for an hour!

Q. Will it be painful?

A. No...most people do not have any sensation at all. A few get a sensation like cool air being blown over the teeth.

Q. Will my teeth be sensitive after the treatment?

A. Most people do not experience any sensitivity after the treatment. Some people may feel some sensitivity. This may last a few minutes to a couple of hours, but will pass within 24 hours at the most.

Personally I have sensitive teeth. When I had the treatment myself it felt like very cold air on my teeth and it lasted a couple of hours.

Q. How white will my teeth go?

A. Your teeth may go 5 to 14 shades lighter. However, as this is a cosmetic treatment, it is impossible to predict how your teeeth will respond to the treatment. Most people will get a result they are very happy with, which boosts their confidence and makes them look great. Some people may need more than one treatment to achieve the level of whiteness they want.

If you are looking for an "Extreme Makeover" whiteness (very blue/white) you may need two or more treatments.

Q. How long will it last?

A. Again this is difficult to predict. However I am treating people who had Zoom or Britesmile treatments about 18 to 24 months ago, and a general guidance is about 18 months. If you only eat white food and drink water it may last up to three years! If you smoke, drink red wine and strong tea often and regularly eat curries and other staining foods, it may last just a few weeks.

Once you have achieved the level of whiteness you require you can have top-up treatments to keep your smile at its best.

Q. How do I pay?

A. You may pay with cash on the day or by paypal in advance.

Q. Can I bring someone with me?

A. I do not have a waiting area or reception for people to wait. However, there are cafes and a shopping centre nearby where someone can wait.

Q. Can two people have the treatment at the same time?

A. Yes - I can do two treatments together. This will take a little longer and you should allow one and a half to two hours.
